According to information received from a Turmush correspondent, on October 30, a group of mothers sent a request to the mayor's office, asking for the creation of a well-equipped space for physical therapy, speech therapy, and massage.
Many of these mothers have skills in the specified areas and are ready to work with the children independently. “Training with speech therapists and other specialized courses is very expensive, which is unaffordable for most families. We are willing to carry out repairs ourselves if necessary to create a space for the development of our children,” they share.
According to the mothers, such a center would support not only the children but also the parents themselves, as they would be able to exchange experiences and provide each other with moral support.
Meerim Mekesheva, a mother of a child with developmental disabilities, noted that currently, there is not a single specialized facility available to them. “We would even agree to a temporary space and are ready to equip it so that our children can socialize and communicate. At the moment, all classes are conducted privately: the cost of one lesson is 500 soms for 45 minutes, which is an unaffordable amount for many. Additionally, our children need special conditions, even for rest, as they cannot be in noisy places. We have a group of about 300 parents, but we have nowhere to gather,” she explains.
Mekesheva also added that the number of children with disabilities is increasing. “I studied this topic: if ten years ago there was one child with a diagnosis of 'autism' for every 88 children, now the ratio is one to 33. The number of such children is growing, and we need a space for their socialization and development,” she reported.
Mayor Salmurbek uulu Azat promised the parents that the issue would be considered and a solution would be found within a week after their meeting.
