The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) reports that most citizens entitled to subsidized medications do not utilize this opportunity, despite the additional benefits, including discounts of up to 50% on necessary medications.
According to information provided by the agency, the subsidized list of the MHIF includes more than 600 names of medications that are available for purchase at a reduced price with an electronic prescription. However, despite this, many citizens do not seek government assistance.
As noted by representatives of the MHIF, "to purchase medications at a discount, only one visit to a family doctor is necessary. We have made this process as simple and convenient as possible for everyone."
The lowest level of activity in utilizing subsidies is observed in the Chuy and Talas regions.
The process of obtaining subsidized medications is actually very simple:
- you must be insured under the Mandatory Health Insurance;
- visit a family doctor and register;
- if necessary, an electronic prescription will be issued;
- within a month, you can purchase medications at any pharmacy working with the MHIF, with a discount of up to 50%.
You can find the complete directory of subsidized medications and information on compensation amounts on the MHIF website: https://foms.kg/spavochniki/.
The MHIF strongly urges citizens entitled to subsidized medication provision to actively take advantage of these opportunities and to consult family doctors if necessary.
For reference: in the first nine months of 2025, doctors at Family Medicine Centers (FMC) issued 1,334.8 thousand subsidized electronic prescriptions, of which 1,150.9 thousand (86%) were issued under the Additional Package of Mandatory Health Insurance. The total amount of compensation to pharmacies from the MHIF amounted to 302.2 million soms (85%).
