Licensing of retail sale of medical devices is being introduced in the Kyrgyz Republic

The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic informs entrepreneurs engaged in the retail sale of medical devices that new legislative requirements regarding mandatory licensing of this activity have recently come into effect. These changes also apply to optical shops and centers engaged in hearing aid fitting.

According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated December 14, 2023, under number 678 "On the issues of licensing certain types of activities," the retail sale of medical devices is now classified as a licensed activity (item 175 of Chapter 25 of the Licensing Regulations).

Medical devices whose sale requires a license include items such as glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, and other products registered in the Kyrgyz Republic as medical.

Licenses for the retail sale of medical devices will be issued by the Ministry of Health. Selling medical devices without the appropriate license will be considered a violation of the law and will result in administrative liability.

In this regard, the Ministry of Health strongly recommends that entrepreneurs familiarize themselves with the provisions of Resolution No. 678 and the Regulations on Licensing Certain Types of Activities, as well as contact the Department of Licensing of Medical and Pharmaceutical Services for assistance in preparing the necessary documents and submitting applications.

The agency emphasizes that timely obtaining a license will help companies operate within the law, avoid fines, and ensure stable operations.
