"Fair of Products by Elderly People 'From Heart to Heart'"

On October 1, 2019, a Nordic walking event with the participation of elderly people titled "Together for Active Longevity!" and the annual Charity Craft Fair of Elderly People "From Heart to Heart" will take place in Bishkek, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons.
These events aim to promote active longevity, combat ageism and discrimination against the elderly, dignified aging, and intergenerational continuity. The organizers of these events are the International Gerontological Network "AgeNet International" in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the support of the Bishkek City Hall.
The event will begin with Nordic walking "Together for Active Longevity!", which will start near the M.V. Frunze monument opposite the Railway Station (intersection of Erkindik Blvd / Lineynaya St) at 09:30. The march will be led by a group of Nordic walkers, including elderly participants, representatives of the Ministry of Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, and public organizations. The Nordic walking will take place along Erkindik Blvd under the slogans "Together for Active Longevity!", "For Dignified Aging!", "For a Society for All Ages!", "We oppose all forms of violence and discrimination!"; "For Accessibility of State and Municipal Services!", and will conclude at the Kurmanjan Datka monument (Chuy Ave), where the Fair will begin.
The "From Heart to Heart" Fair will be held on Erkindik Boulevard / Chuy Ave (near the Kurmanjan Datka monument) from 11:00 to 14:00. Elderly people from Bishkek and the Issyk-Kul and Chui regions will participate in the fair, showcasing handmade products made from felt, wool, yarn, as well as national souvenirs and agricultural products.
The Fair program will also include activities such as: a chess tournament for enthusiasts, a no-loss lottery, a lively dance flash mob featuring elderly participants, workshops on providing first aid, diabetes prevention, a festive concert with talented creative groups of amateur performers, and much more interesting content. Additionally, Fair participants will have the opportunity to check their blood pressure, learn their weight, and receive consultations from specialists on diabetes prevention.
The main goal of this campaign is to combat ageism and discrimination against the elderly within the framework of the international campaign "Age Demands Action," which takes place in 60 countries around the world.

The International Gerontological Network "AgeNet International" was established in 2005 at the initiative of 21 organizations addressing aging issues in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. It consists of 53 organizations from 10 countries: Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. The network includes public organizations such as the "Resource Center for the Elderly," "ADRA Kyrgyzstan," HelpAge International, the National Society of the Red Crescent of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Fomova Social Services Organization, the Diabetic Endocrinological Association of Kyrgyzstan, the Center for Public Technologies, the Child Protection Center, and the "Development of Social Services" Foundation.
"Age Demands Action" (ADA) is an international platform for actions led by elderly people, which helps combat discrimination and promote political changes to improve the lives of older people. Every year, we support elderly activists and partners around the world to organize campaigns and events to raise awareness of the issues faced by older people.
The Bishkek City Hall provides the venue for the fair, tents, tables, sound equipment, and an ambulance for the safety of participants.
