S. Tashtanbekova has a great-great-grandson
In the village of Kenesh, in the Japalak rural district of the city of Osh, lives Salamat Tashtanbekova, who is 103 years old. Another centenarian in the village is 97-year-old Kimsan Isabaeva.
As part of the declared month "Attention and Care for the Elderly" in honor of International Day of Older Persons, events are being held in the city of Osh to provide assistance and support to the elderly.
According to S. Tashtanbekova, for most of her life she worked hard. In her youth, she was very cheerful and always tried to enjoy life. "When the Great Patriotic War began, all the men were taken to the front. The women stayed and worked in the rear for victory — they collected leftover grain in the fields after harvest, worked as ketmen (female laborers), and plowed the land," she says.
Together with her husband, she raised four children — 2 sons and 2 daughters. Now she helps raise 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandson.
97-year-old K. Isabaeva has four children — two sons and two daughters. She raises 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
According to the city administration, there are currently about 145 elderly people in Osh who need care and attention. On the occasion of the Day of Older Persons, 200,000 soms have been allocated for their assistance. In total, the local budget allocates 7.5 million soms annually for providing medical assistance, food, and proper care for those in need and elderly people who are left without supervision.
Events to support the elderly are also being held in all city organizations and institutions.
