The title "Село Кок-Ой" translates to "The Village of Kok-Oy" in English.

Kok-Oy is a village in the Talas District of the Talas Region of Kyrgyzstan.

It is the administrative center of the Kok-Oy rural district. Until 2001, it was called Ivan-Alexeyevka. On February 5, 2001, the Ivan-Alexeyev rural council was renamed to Kok-Oy, and the village of Ivan-Alexeyevka was also renamed to Kok-Oy. Until 2007, it served as the administrative center of the Talas District.

In the village of Kok-Oy, Talas Region, a day center "Beknur" for children with disabilities has been opened.

On July 5, 2007, the official opening of the largest House of Culture in the Talas District took place. This cultural institution, designed for 250 seats, was built in 1982. For more than 12 years, it had not undergone repairs. In recent years, the building had fallen into disrepair and was not in use.

With the inclusion of the Kok-Oy rural council in the Rural Investment Project implemented by the Agency for Development and Investment of Communities of the Kyrgyz Republic (ARIS), the local population decided at general meetings to implement a microproject for the major renovation of the House of Culture in the village of Kok-Oy.

The total amount of the microproject was 2 million soms, of which the grant to the community allocated by ARIS was 1.5 million soms, the community's cash contribution was 50 thousand soms, and the labor contribution was 450 thousand soms. The Talas District State Administration also provided sponsorship support for the implementation of this microproject in the amount of 25 thousand soms.

In addition to renovation work, 100 thousand soms from the total funding of the project were spent on the purchase of musical equipment and instruments.

On December 5, 2017, the opening of a training and production greenhouse took place at Vocational Lyceum No. 6, under the program of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) "Civil Society Support Fund" through the Institute for Development Policy. The total area of this greenhouse, where cucumbers are grown, is 69 sq.m. The greenhouse was built with financial support from UNDP.

The village has a school, kindergarten, library, and shops.

History:

The exact date of the founding of the village of Ivan-Alexeyevka is not established. The Encyclopedia of the Talas Region indicates the year 1912. Archive data lists the year 1879. It all depends on what is considered the fact of the village's founding.

It is possible that in 1879, a small settlement of two or three households appeared at the site of the present village, inhabited by brothers Ivan and Alexey, who are considered the founders of the village, along with their relatives, and that in 1912 Ivan-Alexeyevka became a full-fledged village. The village arose in the Kok-Oy area, opposite Dmitrievka, on the right bank of the Talas River. By 1890, the village had 83 households, with a population of 400 people. Five years later, in 1895, there were already 227 households here.

Existing archival data show that in 1926, in the Talas Valley (Talas canton) in old Dmitrievka, which is now Ivan-Alexeyevka according to settlement map No. 801, there were 155 families of Ukrainians, 417 men, and 413 women. There were only 19 families of Russian nationality, with 46 men and 36 women. There was one family of Germans with three men and one woman. In total, 175 families were recorded in old Dmitrievka, comprising 466 men and 450 women. No other residents of any nationality were recorded in old Dmitrievka.

The absence of residents of Kyrgyz nationality in this village suggests that they were located in the upper reaches of "jailoo" during the summer and descended to the wintering grounds "kyshtoo," i.e., the Kyrgyz population led a nomadic lifestyle. Old Dmitrievka was part of the Ivan-Alexeyevka village council (the current territory of the district center Ivan-Alexeyevka), while new Dmitrievka had the territory of present-day Talas city and is recorded as the Dmitrievka village council, with the settlement called Dmitrievka as the official modern name in the census.

In the village-aul of Dmitrievka, the population census included Ukrainians - 1748 people, Russians - 1021 people, Uzbeks - 74, Germans - 38, Tatars - 12, Kyrgyz - 14, Belarusians - 7, Romanians - 7, Mordvins - 6, Kashgarians - 2, Moldovans - 1, Cossacks - 1, with a total male population of 1495 people and a female population of 1436. In total, 2931 registered individuals were recorded in the population census. These figures indicate that around three thousand people lived in the village of Dmitrievka in the Talas canton at the time of the 1926 population census. The percentage shows that the majority of the population was of Ukrainian and Russian nationality.
