The International Festival of National Cultures "Berdemlek – Commonwealth" will take place in the Republic of Bashkortostan from June 3 to June 9. This year, the Festival is included in the Plan for the Chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for 2014-2015, approved by the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin. The event will showcase the creativity of 200 participants from various countries around the world, including China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan, as well as India, Brazil, and the Republic of South Africa.
Additionally, the festival has become one of six international festivals in Russia included in the CIOFF calendar of major events for 2015. In recent years, it has been held as part of the Federal Target Program "Culture of Russia".
The festival is organized by the State Russian House of Folk Art, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republican Center for Folk Art, and the administrations of the urban districts of the cities of Oktyabrsky, Ufa, and the municipal districts of Davlekanovo, Belebey, and Tuymazy.
The program of the festival "Berdemlek - Commonwealth" is rich and includes concert tours of festival participants, cavalcade parades, and celebrations of national cultures. Residents of the region will have the opportunity to learn about the national traditions of the peoples of Russia, the SCO, and BRICS countries. The program will also feature a fair and an exhibition of decorative and applied arts, where folk craftsmen, including those from neighboring countries, will showcase their original works.
On the first day of the festival, June 4, a ceremonial opening will take place in the city of Belebey, after which the groups will participate in the Russian folk celebration "Open Up, Soul!". On June 5, the festival activities will move to the city of Oktyabrsky, where the Republican Kurai Festival will be held. On June 6 and 7, national Sabantuy celebrations are planned in the Davlekanovo and Tuymazy districts. The festival will conclude on June 8 in Ufa with a grand Gala concert.
