In Kyrgyzstan, partner childbirths are suspended until the improvement of the epidemiological situation.
The decision to suspend such births was made during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Asylbasheva noted that partner births have not been conducted since then. "Everything depends on the state of epidemiology. Depending on the time of year, various diseases are observed, and to reduce the risk of infection for both the infant and the mother, who is in a vulnerable state, partner births have been temporarily suspended. Currently, cases of ARVI and influenza are being observed, and earlier outbreaks of measles and other infections were recorded. If a relative present during childbirth could be a carrier of the disease, it poses a risk to the health of both the mother and the child, which could worsen the situation. For this reason, partner births are suspended until the epidemiological situation improves," she explained.
The specialist also added that partner births are intended to provide support to the woman. However, there are times when the intervention of relatives can hinder the work of medical staff, complicating the process, Asylbasheva noted.
