In Kyrgyzstan, about 20,000 people die from heart diseases every year
Among the diseases in this category are heart attacks, strokes, and cases of sudden cardiac death.
Duyshenalieva noted that cardiovascular diseases account for 52% of the total number of deaths in the country. Unfortunately, this statistic has remained unchanged for many years, even decades. The Ministry of Health and the international community are making efforts to reduce these figures,” she added.
She also emphasized that many non-communicable diseases progress without obvious symptoms, which often leads people to overlook them.
“Elevated blood sugar does not cause pain, high cholesterol is also not felt, smoking attracts smokers, and unhealthy food seems tasty. People do not want to engage in physical activity. Nevertheless, prevention is an important area that should be focused on. It is encouraging that there has been more discussion about this lately. For example, a large-scale campaign was conducted on the dangers of excessive salt consumption,” she concluded.
