There are two main cases:
- If the patient goes to the hospital on their own and does not have a referral from a family doctor. In this case, all medical services, including consultations, tests, examinations, and procedures, are paid for according to established rates. This does not apply to emergency care.
- If hospitalization occurs through emergency services. In emergency situations, such as sudden acute illnesses or exacerbations of chronic diseases, medical assistance is provided without a referral. Hospitalization and all necessary services, including medications and medical devices (according to the list of essential medicines), are provided free of charge until the patient receives the necessary assistance to stabilize their condition.
