- In Kyrgyzstan, there are 117 slaughter points where strict veterinary control is implemented. This information was presented by Bakyt Sharapov, the Deputy Director of the Veterinary Service for Animal Husbandry, Pastures, and Feed under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry.

According to Sharapov, a system of identification and monitoring has been introduced to track the movement of animals. After slaughter, mandatory veterinary inspections are conducted, along with the issuance of electronic documents and veterinary certificates.

In Bishkek, there are 14 veterinary and sanitary laboratories where meat products undergo examination. Beef, horse meat, and pork are fully tracked through the identification system, while control over lamb is limited due to insufficient coverage by identification, he noted.

Sharapov also reported that in 2025, Kyrgyzstan recorded 47 cases of infectious diseases among animals, of which 25 cases were rabies. The main carriers of the virus are wild animals, which attack livestock and humans during the peak of the disease. All infection outbreaks were promptly localized.

Additionally, the large livestock market in Tokmok was closed due to non-compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements, and alternative trading platforms are being created instead. Similar measures were previously taken in Sokuluk, where a new municipal market was opened.
