Kyrgyzstan is actively working on creating conditions for the sustainable development of fisheries, aquaculture, and attracting investments in this sector, reports the Ministry of Water Management and Agriculture.

According to the information from the ministry, a comprehensive system for the identification and tracking of fish and fish products is being implemented in the country, covering all stages—from eggs to finished products. The main focus is on monitoring the stocking of fish, the movement of eggs, fry, and adult fish, as well as the identification of fish farms. All data has already been entered into the Information System for the Identification and Tracking of Animals.

The full implementation of control over the movement of fish and fish products through the information system is planned for 2026-2027. Each module of this system will be developed in stages, tested, and piloted in selected regions before being rolled out across the republic. The work is being carried out by the veterinary service, as well as the development of livestock, pastures, and feed, as stated in the report.

The planned completion date for the project is 2026. The Korean side has already confirmed its readiness to develop a module for the group identification of fish, which will also ensure the traceability of fish products. It is expected that the new system will enhance transparency in the industry, reduce the volume of illegal product circulation, create favorable conditions for investments, and provide the population with quality and safe fish.
