According to Idirisov, the ministry has set a goal this year to convince farmers of the necessity to switch to a winter cropping system for 100% of wheat and barley sowings. More than 500,000 hectares of grains are cultivated in the country annually, and the transition to winter crops can significantly increase yields.
"Winter crops yield 20-30% more than spring crops. Our main goal is to ensure food security and self-sufficiency for the country," he added.
Additionally, the ministry strongly recommends that farmers conduct soil analysis before the sowing season to accurately determine fertilizer norms.
There are 86 experimental farms operating in the country that provide certified seeds, as well as more than 20 certified nurseries. This year, two new state nurseries were opened, and in the future, it is planned to increase their number, noted Idirisov.
