The chief specialist of the Veterinary Service believes that the main reasons lie in the activities of resellers
According to Sharshen Chotonov, who holds a position in the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, meat prices in Kyrgyzstan are artificially inflated. He expressed his opinion during a recent interview.
Chotonov is confident that there are no objective reasons for the rise in meat prices in the country.
“Kyrgyzstan has unique pastures that cannot be found in any other country in the world. Animals are on pasture for six to eight months. The increase in meat prices is a result of price manipulation. The basis for this is the export value of live cattle, which is sent abroad, after which prices in the domestic market begin to rise. The problem is created by resellers who buy cattle in villages at low prices,” he noted.
