Over the course of nine months, Kyrgyzstan has managed to provide itself with 6 out of 9 essential food products. This information was presented by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the ministry's data, the socially significant products include:
- potatoes
- milk
- meat
- vegetables
- eggs
- sugar
- baked goods (from grain crops)
- vegetable oil
- fruits and berries
Additionally, it is worth noting that meat prices in neighboring countries, such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, are significantly higher. This has led farmers and livestock breeders to previously export their products for greater profit.
“Nevertheless, to stabilize meat prices, the government has taken prompt measures: a ban on meat exports has been introduced and price control has been established,” the statement emphasizes.
The ministry also indicated that due to the increase in domestic production of chicken eggs, a ban on their import has been introduced. Currently, Kyrgyzstan not only fully provides itself with chicken eggs but also actively exports them. For example, from August to January 2025, 3 million 300 thousand eggs were exported.
