The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, in collaboration with the government, is implementing a series of measures aimed at stabilizing prices for essential food products and ensuring the domestic market is supplied with the necessary volumes of goods.
To prevent a rise in meat prices, a decision has been made to temporarily ban the export of live cattle, which should increase supply in the domestic market and reduce price pressure.
In addition, in cooperation with district akimats and the Antimonopoly Agency, social sales points are being opened in the regions, which has already led to a decrease in meat prices by 50–70 soms in recent days.
The ministry is also conducting an analysis of the entire price chain — from producers to end consumers, to identify unnecessary links that lead to increased costs.
In the near future, a decision is expected regarding the exemption from VAT for the following categories of goods:
- imported grain;
- animal feed;
- vegetable oil exported from the country.
As of the end of nine months in 2025, Kyrgyzstan fully meets its needs for six main products:
- potatoes
- milk
- meat products
- vegetables
- eggs
- sugar
- baked goods (grain)
- vegetable oil
- fruits and berries
The ministry emphasizes that there are no issues with food supply — production is proceeding as planned.
