According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the stable situation in the food market of Kyrgyzstan is shaped by external factors. The main reasons for the current price pressure include fluctuations in global prices for energy resources and food products, disruptions in logistics chains, and uncertainty in international markets.
What is the situation with food prices?
The Ministry of Agriculture reports that there has been no increase in prices for socially significant goods — flour, bread, milk, rice, sugar, pasta, and eggs — this year.
Domestic production ensures self-sufficiency in key positions such as potatoes, vegetables, milk, sugar, meat, and eggs, which reduces the risks of shortages in the face of external shocks.
What measures is the Ministry of Agriculture taking?
The Ministry of Agriculture has implemented a number of measures to stabilize the situation:
🔹 Price restrictions on meat: introduction of a temporary ban on the export of large and small cattle and targeted regulation in necessary cases.
🔹 Stocks and supplies of oils: insurance reserves have been formed, and no shortage is expected.
🔹 Monitoring of socially significant goods: weekly price and stock control is conducted, and operational decisions are made in case of fluctuations.
🔹 Support for producers: measures are aimed at assisting farmers and processors to increase domestic production and reduce dependence on imports.
🔹 Control of markups: suppression of unjustified markups and unfair practices in the market.
