The aim of the new law is to meet the domestic demand for key socially significant food products produced in the country.
In accordance with the new law, amendments are made to the existing provisions of the law "On Food Security of the Kyrgyz Republic," which include:
- – revision and establishment of new terms and concepts within the framework of the law;
- strengthening food security by defining the role of import substitution, which will allow saturating the domestic market with essential socially significant products produced in the country;
- establishment of criteria for assessing the level of food security, ensuring the population has sufficient volumes of food products.
