It is proposed to introduce a new non-tax payment — a tourist fee, which will be charged to foreign guests temporarily residing in various places such as hotels, inns, hostels, sanatoriums, rest houses, and guest houses.
The responsibility for paying the fee will fall on the owners or tenants of the accommodation facilities; however, the actual payers will be the tourists themselves. The specific amount and procedure for paying the fee will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers. The collected funds are planned to be directed towards the development of tourist infrastructure and the protection of cultural heritage.
The amendments also stipulate that tax authorities will monitor the collection and account for it as part of the state's non-tax revenues.
The draft law may come into effect on January 1, 2027.
