Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic asks for money from citizens — 10 million soms needed.
The ministry promises to report on every som spent.
The Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism has launched a fundraising campaign among concerned Kyrgyz citizens (crowdfunding) — more than 10 million soms are needed, the ministry's press service reported.
The funds will be used to produce 200 tourist signs for the main tourist attractions in the country. The contribution amount ranges from 1 som to infinity.
The ministry notes that citizens who contribute money can suggest where these signs should be installed.
A working group consisting of representatives from the Department of Tourism, the tourism business, and civil society will be created specifically for this campaign to monitor the funds and the proper installation of the signs.
The fundraising will begin on May 18 and continue until September 20.
“As funds accumulate, the signs will be produced. On a specially created Facebook page for this purpose, we will provide reports on every som with bank statement excerpts and show how the funds are being spent. Everything will be absolutely transparent,” the Ministry of Culture promises.
After the signs are installed, travelers will be able to reach their destinations faster and on the right path, saving time and leaving a positive impression of Kyrgyzstan, the ministry believes.
