According to information provided by the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, the Republic has fully provided itself with six out of nine key food products over the past nine months.

The fully provided products include: potatoes, milk, meat (including beef and lamb), vegetables, eggs, and sugar.

The remaining three items, namely baked goods (grains), vegetable oil, as well as fruits and berries, are partially covered by imports.

The Ministry also noted that starting in 2024, Kyrgyzstan will become "fully self-sufficient in sugar production," which previously had to be imported. Efforts to ensure self-sufficiency in poultry meat are ongoing.

Farmers had previously turned to exporting meat due to high prices in neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. To prevent price increases, the ministry reports that the government has imposed a ban on meat exports and has begun to control prices for this product.

In the egg market, thanks to increased domestic production, imports have been limited. Currently, according to the ministry's data, the country not only meets its domestic needs but also exports products: from August to January 2025, 3.3 million chicken eggs were exported.

The Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes that the responsibility for food security lies with the relevant ministry, and "there are no problems in this direction."
