According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development, Kyrgyzstan fully meets its needs for beef and lamb. At the same time, poultry meat is imported under established quotas: in 2025, 58 thousand tons were imported, and in the following year, 2026, 48 thousand tons are expected.

Uran Chekirbaev, head of the food security department of this ministry, reported on the measures being taken to maintain price stability amid persistently high inflation both domestically and abroad.

He emphasized that meat is one of the key food products in Kyrgyzstan, making it necessary to keep its price at an acceptable level. Currently, the price of beef and lamb is approximately 600-700 soms per kilogram, and active efforts are being made to maintain this level, especially to assist socially vulnerable groups of the population.

It was also decided to suspend the export of live cattle to ensure sufficient volumes of meat in the domestic market, as stated in the agency's message.

The Ministry notes that all actions taken are aimed at "maintaining the stability of the domestic market and protecting the interests of citizens."
