He noted that this season, 2,597 hectares have been allocated for cotton, which is 1,230 hectares less than last year.
“Currently, farmers in the district are finishing the second cotton harvest. The average yield is 35 centners per hectare, resulting in a total of 7,835 tons of raw cotton. Last year, cotton occupied 3,827 hectares, with a yield of 33.6 centners, and the total harvest amounted to 12,859 tons. Thus, despite the reduction in the area planted, there is an increase in yield. Furthermore, prices have risen this year: while in 2024, 1 kg of cotton cost 57–60 soms, the current price ranges from 70 to 73 soms,” concluded Muratbek Junusov.
He also reported that there are two factories in the district that accept cotton raw materials from local residents.
The total area of cultivated land in the Nooken district is 20,474.83 hectares. This year, of these, 4,677 hectares are allocated for corn, 2,597 hectares for cotton, 3,248 hectares for vegetables, 4,586.83 hectares for alfalfa, 1,671 hectares for fruit crops, 527 hectares for rice, and 133 hectares for potatoes.
