Kyrgyzstan fully provides itself with beef and lamb, assures the Ministry of Agriculture

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic has reported that the country fully meets its needs for beef and lamb.
At the same time, the agency noted that poultry meat is entering the market under an established quota: in 2025, 58,000 tons were imported, and 48,000 tons are planned for 2026.
The minister also stated that the state regulation of prices for meat, including beef and lamb (excluding boneless meat), has been extended until the end of 2025.
Uran Chekirbaev, head of the food security department of the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized that measures are being taken to maintain price stability amid high inflation both domestically and abroad. “Meat is one of the key food products in Kyrgyzstan, so it is important to keep its price at a stable level. Currently, beef and lamb cost about 600–700 soms per kilogram. We are trying to maintain this level, especially for socially vulnerable groups of the population,” he added.
In addition, to ensure a sufficient volume of meat in the domestic market, the export of live cattle has been temporarily suspended.
These measures are aimed at maintaining stability in the domestic market and protecting the interests of the country's citizens.
