Since its inception, the festival has become a significant platform for the development of cinematic art and intercultural dialogue, serving as a meeting place for world cinema, highlighting the cultural diversity of the Kyrgyz Republic, its dynamic film industry, and creative potential.The festival program in 2026 will feature three competitive categories:
- International Competition - the main program featuring outstanding films from around the world competing for the grand prize;
- Central Asian Competition - a section showcasing the best films from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, reflecting the contemporary cinema of the region;
- KyrgyzBox - a competition for the most commercially successful films from Kyrgyzstan, highlighting the achievements of local cinema.
- Grand Prix "Best Film" (producer) - 500,000 soms;
- Best Director - 400,000 soms;
- Best Actor/Actress - 300,000 soms;
- Special Jury Prize - 300,000 soms for outstanding achievements by screenwriters, cinematographers, composers, or production designers.
Festival Program
The festival includes both competitive and non-competitive screenings, masterclasses, student programs, project pitching (CAF Pitch), discussion panels, and other special events for the industry. Every year, over 150 international guests attend the Bishkek International Film Festival, including directors, producers, and industry experts from all corners of the world.In 2026, Bishkek will once again become a magnet for filmmakers and creative professionals - a space where East meets West, where new voices emerge, and cinema unites diverse cultures.Application Submission for participation is open from October 17 on the FilmFreeway platform.
