The International Seminar "Preservation of Cultural Heritage in Central Asia" on the preparation of field research reports and the creation of museum exhibitions will take place from October 27 to November 1, 2014, at the main building of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR) in Bishkek. This meeting of historians, organized by the Institute of History and Cultural Heritage (IHCH) of NAS KR, in collaboration with the National Research Institutes of Cultural Values (NRICV) of Tokyo and Nara (Japan), is aimed at protecting the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
The seminar is part of a series of similar events conducted since 2011 by the staff of IHCH and their partners from Japan, aimed at training young specialists from our region. The previous seven similar events focused on the topics of "Documentation," "Excavations," "Conservation," and "Heritage Site Management."
Participants in the seminar will be provided with informational and didactic materials on the principles and methods of storing scientific data in archaeology, as well as on creating exhibitions using archaeological finds in museums. Additionally, the seminar will address the preparation of field reports, followed by their publication. The concluding part of the meeting will include lectures on zooarchaeology and archaeobotany.
Among the lecturers at the seminar will be staff members of IHCH Bakyt Amanbaeva, Valery Kolchenko, Aydai Su laymanova, Chinara Beksultanova, and their colleagues from Japan – specialists from NRICV Tokyo Kazuya Yamauchi, Masashi Abe, Shogo Kume, Hiru Kansha, from the Japan Agency for Science and Technology (Tokyo) Saiji Arai, Shi Akashi, and Shingo Hidaka from the National Museum of Ethnology (Osaka).
