The book consists of six main sections that narrate the establishment and development of the Academy of Sciences and its four divisions: "Physical-Technical, Mathematical and Geological Sciences," "Chemical-Technological, Medical-Biological and Agricultural Sciences," "History of Humanitarian and Economic Sciences," and "Southern Division." Representatives from each of the institutes within these divisions introduce the reader to the topics and issues of their scientific research. Additionally, the collection contains a chronology of key dates in the history of the NAS, information about all its leaders over the years, a complete list of the personal composition of the members of the Academy of Sciences, as well as its corresponding members.
As stated in the publication, the roots of our national academy can be traced back to the scientific reforms of the country's leadership in 1924 and 1936, when the Academic Center and the Committee on Science were established in the republic. It is emphasized that the stage of forming the main scientific institution of Kyrgyzstan occurred during the harsh years of the Great Patriotic War, during which many strategically important scientific research institutes were evacuated from the European part of the USSR to the territory of Central Asia. Subsequently, the NAS became not only a center of science but also a forge of the intellectual elite of the republic, many of whom justly earned a reputation as the best employees of enterprises and institutions, government bodies, and the higher education system of the country.
The collection, edited by the President of the academy A.E. Erkebaev, also traces the development of the national academy during the years of Kyrgyzstan's sovereignty, when there was a breakthrough in the adoption of many science-intensive technologies by Kyrgyz scientists and the expansion of the structures and divisions of the NAS.
