Kyrgyzstan intends to include the yurt, the improvisational art of aitys, the equestrian sport kok-boru, and the mausoleum of "Shah-Fazil" in the UNESCO list.
In November of this year, a joint nomination with Kazakhstan for "Traditional Knowledge of Yurt Construction" will be considered for inclusion in the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. This was reported by the responsible secretary of the National Commission of Kyrgyzstan for UNESCO, Elnura Korchueva.
"In 2015, we plan to submit for consideration the Kyrgyz equestrian sport kok-boru, as well as the art of improvisation aiytish in collaboration with Kazakhstan," noted Elnura Korchueva.
According to her, next year Kyrgyzstan intends to submit an application for the inclusion of the mausoleum Shah-Fazil and some other historical sites located in the Chuy Valley in the list of world cultural and natural heritage.
Currently, 7 objects of cultural and intangible heritage from Kyrgyzstan are included in the UNESCO list. In 2008, the sacred mountain "Sulaiman Too" and the art of Kyrgyz epic poets were included. In 2009, together with 6 countries – Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, the holiday Nowruz was included in the list. In 2012, Kyrgyz felt carpets "Ala-Kiyiz" and "Shyrdak" were included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity that needs urgent protection. In 2013, the Kyrgyz epic trilogy "Manas, Semetey, and Seitek" was included in the organization's list.
This year, the medieval settlements of Nevaket (Krasnaya Rechka), Suayb (Ak-Beshim), and Balasagun (Burana) were included in the UNESCO protection list as part of the transnational nomination "Silk Road": "The Initial Section and Network of Routes of the Tian Shan Corridor" from Kazakhstan, China, and Kyrgyzstan.
