On October 3, 2014, the State Service for Intellectual Property and Innovations under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzpatent) held a seminar titled "The Role of Intellectual Property in Entrepreneurial Activity."
Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and business structures participated in the seminar.
The participants were welcomed by Zina Isabaeva, Deputy Chair of Kyrgyzpatent, and Amangeldy Davletaliev, First Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In her speech, Zina Isabaeva emphasized the role of trademarks and industrial designs in the modern world, noting their importance for producers, entrepreneurs, and consumers.
Amangeldy Davletaliev thanked Kyrgyzpatent for organizing the seminar and added that the use of trademarks in the development of entrepreneurial activity is a sign of a civilized, modern business.
Elmar Mukambetov, Head of the Trademark Examination Department at Kyrgyzpatent, detailed the history of trademarks, their role, and significance in business development during his presentation. He noted that market development has necessitated the registration of trademarks.
Olga Bekbaeva, an expert in the Trademark Examination Department, presented a report on foreign trademark registration, discussing its international registration procedure and its advantages.
Arstanbek Berdaliev, Head of the Department of Inventions, Utility Models, and Industrial Designs at Kyrgyzpatent, spoke about the economic significance of industrial designs and their role in business.
During the seminar, participants also discussed issues related to counterfeiting and product falsification, similar trademarks in the Kyrgyz market, the registration of Soviet brands, and the opportunities and challenges of entering other markets.
