In the context of the active growth of the local film industry, it is necessary to pay attention to the modernization of cinemas in the regions, which has become a strategic issue. This statement was made by Marat Tagaev, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.
He emphasized the outstanding achievements of Kyrgyzstan on the international stage, noting that between 80 and 100 films are produced in the country annually.
“According to the latest international rankings, Kyrgyzstan is among the top five countries with the highest number of films produced per capita,” said Marat Tagaev.Additionally, the deputy minister added that there are currently 37 cinemas operating in the republic. Significant steps are planned for 2024 to optimize their management: 20 cinemas will be leased to private investors for more effective operation.
Moreover, 10 cinemas located in the regions remain under the balance of the Cinematography Department. The agency is ready to transfer them to private management through open auctions.
