The head of state emphasized that Kyrgyzstan has entered the ranks of the top three countries in the world in terms of economic growth, with a gross domestic product increase of 10%.
He also reported on the projected level of the consolidated budget by the end of the year — 1.1 trillion soms.
The president highlighted a significant reduction in external debt:
- In 2020, it accounted for 54.49% of GDP.
- Currently, this figure has decreased to 25.37% of GDP.
“This indicates that the economic interests of the country are not under threat. If necessary, we could pay off the external debt in one day, as we have sufficient financial resources,” Japarov noted.
However, he emphasized that early repayment of debts is not advisable due to high penalties and interest rates on existing contracts. Thus, the country will continue to make scheduled payments and plans to completely eliminate accumulated debts by 2035.
The president recalled the difficult situation the country faced five years ago.
“I remind you of the calls back then: ‘To get rid of debts, let’s gather our rings and earrings,’” he said.
Additionally, at the meeting, the deputies of the 8th convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh took their oath.
