In an interview with the "Kabar" agency, President Sadyr Japarov commented on the current state of debts in the country's energy sector.

He reminded that at the beginning of 2021, the total debt of the industry reached 137 billion soms, which is equivalent to approximately 1.5 billion dollars.

According to the head of state, thanks to reforms, the fight against corruption, and the reduction of theft, the debt amount has decreased to 25 billion soms. Japarov expressed hope that by the end of next year, the debt will be fully repaid, and the energy sector will start generating profit. Thus, over five years, such positive changes have been achieved.

Regarding the electricity deficit in winter, the president noted that at the opening of the Kara-Kul Hydroelectric Power Station, he had already spoken about plans: in two and a half years, Kyrgyzstan will stop importing electricity and become completely self-sufficient. The president confidently stated that there will be no more outages in winter.
