During a tour of the facility, he asked the Chairman of the National Bank, Melis Turgunbaev, about the sale of gold bars and the current state of affairs.
“Yes, sales are being made. Previously, the store was located in the old building, but now it has been moved here. There is an increase in demand against the backdrop of rising gold prices,” Turgunbaev replied.
The President inquired about the prices set by the National Bank compared to “Kyrgyzaltyn.”
“Their prices are slightly lower, the difference is about 200 soms,” the head of the bank clarified.
Japarov also asked if the National Bank checks the documents of buyers.
“Yes, we do that,” Turgunbaev answered.
Japarov noted: “Kyrgyzaltyn is doing well with sales, and they do not require documents. Over the year, they managed to recoup the costs of opening the store, earning a net profit of 300 million soms. That is, they returned the funds invested in the opening in just one year. Sales should be made without documents,” he suggested.
Turgunbaev pointed out the necessity of having an identification document.
The President responded: “The National Bank is too tied to laws and regulations, which hinders its ability to act. You can make changes to the laws. We have a market economy, and you have all the opportunities to earn more. Don’t stay on the sidelines. If you do not require documents, sales could significantly increase,” Japarov assured.
