Now the National Bank is located at: Kalyk Akiev Street, 89. The construction of the building took two years, and its area is 22,240 square meters. The complex consists of ten different blocks and is designed to accommodate 300 employees.
Deputy Chairman of the NBKR Melis Attokurov shared details about the construction process of the new facility with journalists.
According to him, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kyrgyzstan has not had its own specialized building for the National Bank that meets modern international standards. The development of the design and estimate documentation began back in 1986, and the building itself was transferred to the balance of the NBKR in 2002. The project was in development for over 20 years, and its revision was carried out in 2020.
The new building is equipped with a modern storage facility that can hold up to 1000 tons of gold. The NBKR noted that information about the construction cost, location, and characteristics of the storage facilities is confidential.
“This data is confidential, but this structure has been built with all necessary calculations and has a storage facility with the required conditions,” added Deputy Chairman Attokurov.
As for the old building of the NBKR, the question of its future, including the possibility of transferring it or keeping it on the regulator's balance, remains open.
