The new building of the NBKR is located at: Kalyk Akiev Street, 89, in Bishkek.
The construction of this facility took two years, and its total area is 22,240 square meters, including ten different blocks.
The head of state noted that after gaining independence in 1991, one of the first steps was to create a national currency system.
“May 10, 1993, went down in history as the day the national currency — the som — was introduced, which became a symbol of pride for our people,” he stated.
“The main task of the NBKR is to ensure currency stability. In recent years, the bank has faced challenges related to geopolitical and economic changes, as well as inflation,” added Sadyr Japarov.
The president emphasized that today the som is considered one of the most stable currencies in Central Asia.
“The National Bank inspires trust among citizens. Previously, I instructed the development of innovative technologies, among which the key project is the introduction of the digital som,” the president reminded.
