On December 6, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, met with Nenad Lalovic, the head of United World Wrestling, and Mohammed Al-Awamleh, the president of United World Wrestling Asia.

According to the press service of the Presidential Administration, Japarov expressed gratitude for their significant contribution to the development of wrestling on the international stage and expressed hope for the further successful development of this sport under their leadership.

“The names of Akjol Mahmudov, Zholaman Sharshenbekov, Ernaz Akmataliev, Aisuluu Tynybekova, Meerim Jumanzarova, and Aiperi Medet kyzy are known not only in our country but also far beyond its borders,” he noted, adding that five out of the six medals won by Kyrgyzstan at the Olympic Games in Paris were in wrestling. “This creates a solid foundation for future competitions, including the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028,” the president added.

Japarov emphasized that the development of sports is an important direction of state policy. Sports facilities are actively being built in the country, academies are opening, and conditions are being created for both mass participation and professional training of athletes.

He also expressed confidence that with the support of UWW, Kyrgyzstan will be able to become a venue for hosting world wrestling championships.

Nenad Lalovic noted that the government's efforts to develop sports, especially wrestling, are beginning to bear fruit, and more and more Kyrgyz athletes are showing high results, which draws attention to their achievements.

Lalovic also emphasized the development of sports infrastructure in the country and the preparation for the World Nomad Games, where various types of wrestling will be represented.

Mohammed Al-Awamleh added that the active development of sports in Kyrgyzstan strengthens its position on the international sports stage.

At the end of the meeting, Sadyr Japarov awarded Nenad Lalovic the Order of Dostuk, and Mohammed Al-Awamleh an Honorary Certificate of the Kyrgyz Republic for their contribution to the development of wrestling in the country and raising its status at the global level. In response, Nenad Lalovic awarded Japarov the UWW Order.
