According to Tagaev, the investors could have easily hidden the mosaic behind a screen or used cheap materials, as is often done by building owners. However, they showed respect for cultural heritage by leaving the artwork in its original form.
The Deputy Minister of Culture emphasized that in recent years, there has been a destruction of many mosaics and other historical elements of the urban landscape in Bishkek, and the example on Chuy Avenue is a rare exception demonstrating a careful attitude towards cultural objects.
"The Vietnamese company could have demolished everything, and no one would have objected. However, they recognized the value of the mosaic and its artistic level, which is undoubtedly a worthy example for local entrepreneurs and government officials," he added.
Additionally, Tagaev criticized the construction of new three-story buildings in the historical part of the city, calling it a "sad and disgraceful phenomenon." He proposed to dismantle such structures and restore the areas as green and recreational zones.
The Deputy Minister urged investors and officials to show greater responsibility and respect for the cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan: "There are still buildings in Bishkek that can and should be preserved. If approached with conscience, the city will only become more attractive," he noted.
After inspecting the restoration of the mosaic, Tagaev personally thanked the representatives of the Vietnamese company for their work.
