In an interview with the Kabar agency, Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services Imankun uulu Talantbek expressed the opinion that opponents of renovation in Bishkek might consider moving to quieter places, such as villages or jailoo.
According to him, the capital should develop vertically.
“Some citizens and deputies express concerns about increasing traffic jams in the city. If high-rise buildings for 500 people are built instead of old buildings where 100 people live, this could worsen the problem. Bishkek is the capital, and we need to grow upwards. I recently visited Beijing, where people travel from one district to another on 10-12 lane roads for 1-1.5 hours because it’s Beijing, the capital,” he noted.
“If you strive for fresh air and freedom, no one is stopping you from moving to the village or to the jailoo,” he added.

The official also emphasized that the president adheres to the right policy. According to him, new houses are being built in the regions, for which billions of soms are allocated annually for development. These houses are equipped with playgrounds and other comfortable conditions. He noted that such conditions should be available not only in the capital but also in other regions. While Bishkek and Osh were previously considered the main cities, the city of Manas is now actively developing, where the construction of multi-story buildings is also planned. All these projects have been implemented over the past five years. According to the deputy minister, the government has clear plans and strategies, and he hopes that all these issues will be successfully resolved in the future.
