New fire truck ladders Mercedes-Benz Artos have arrived in Bishkek, with a height of 54 meters. These vehicles are designed for effective firefighting and rescue operations in high-rise buildings. This was reported by Stalbek Abdilda uulu, the deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the capital.

According to Abdilda uulu, the new vehicles have the capability to lift loads weighing up to 450 kg and are equipped with a special dry standpipe. This allows fire extinguishing substances to be delivered directly from the fire truck's pump via the ladder. The turret nozzle on board can deliver water up to 60 meters away and can be used with both water and foam.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that the need for such equipment arose due to the active growth of high-rise construction in Bishkek. While there were only a few buildings with 16 floors in the early 2000s, now buildings of 25–30 floors are being designed.

“According to safety requirements, high-rise buildings must be equipped with automatic fire alarms, internal fire hydrants, first-category power supply systems, and two elevators — one for passengers and one for freight. The freight elevator must operate autonomously and ensure the ascent of firefighters for at least three hours after a power outage. Additionally, automatic water misting systems and dry standpipes are installed in high-rises, allowing firefighting to begin even before rescue services arrive,” he added.

The agency emphasized that updating fire safety regulations and implementing modern technologies is a necessary step in the context of the rapid increase in high-rise buildings in Bishkek.
