In Kyrgyzstan, citizens are being urged to install motion sensors to reduce lighting costs. This was reported by the head of the production and technical department of the Bishkek Electric Networks Enterprise (BES) Zamirbek Temirbekov on the air of "Birinchi Radio".

Temirbekov noted that 110 motion sensors have already been installed on the administrative buildings of BES, which has allowed for monitoring the effectiveness of their use.

According to him, the power of one light bulb is 48 watts. If it operates for eight hours a day, after the installation of the motion sensor, its operation is reduced to four hours, which halves the consumption. Thus, over the year, BES was able to save 5,500 kilowatt-hours of electricity.

In addition, the enterprise accounts for 133 schools, 306 kindergartens, 48 baths, 88 saunas, and 92 hospitals. Zamirbek Temirbekov emphasized that even partial installation of sensors and automated lighting control systems at these facilities would significantly reduce electricity consumption and cut costs.

Aigul Bulanova, head of the electricity sales department of BES, added that by government directive, motion sensors must be installed in all state institutions, as "dark corridors are lit around the clock".

Earlier, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, stated that the water level in the Toktogul reservoir is 2 billion cubic meters lower than last year. To ensure the stability of the energy system, the state has to purchase electricity from abroad. He urged the population to save, noting that "each light bulb represents hundreds of liters of water in Toktogul and additional budget expenses."
