In turn, the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan had previously announced the introduction of temporary restrictions on electricity consumption during peak morning and evening hours.
Citizens dissatisfied with these restrictions can switch to the unlimited tariff, which does not imply a change in capacity. To connect to this tariff, it is necessary to contact the local electric network enterprise.
As company representatives explained, "after submitting an application, the subscriber will be connected to the new tariff within one to two days, and the capacity limit will be increased."
According to the existing tariffs:
- the cost of 1 kilowatt-hour under the unlimited tariff is 3.81 soms;
- consumers using up to 700 kilowatt-hours pay 1.37 soms;
- for consumption over 700 kilowatt-hours, the tariff is 2.6 soms.
Sadyr Japarov ordered the immediate cessation of the application of this tariff, as well as the adoption of measures to ensure equal access to electricity for citizens during the winter period.
It should be noted that the "Unlimited Tariff" was introduced in 2022 with an initial cost of 5.04 soms per 1 kilowatt-hour. In May 2023, the price was reduced to 3.28 soms per 1 kilowatt-hour, after which the tariff was increased as part of Kyrgyzstan's medium-term tariff policy.
