An expert opposes this approach in the context of electricity shortages
At the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan, an unlimited electricity tariff has been proposed, which, according to public figure Rasul Umbetaliev, is unfair to the majority of the country's citizens. He expressed his position in an interview with Vesti.kg.
Umbetaliev believes that this approach only exacerbates social stratification and negatively impacts society. “In conditions of electricity shortages, such measures are unacceptable,” he emphasized.
In his opinion, the situation would be much more acceptable if Kyrgyzstan were not facing the problem of electricity shortages this autumn-winter heating season.
“Currently, the consumption capacity has been limited, reduced from 5 kW to 3 kW, which is completely insufficient for normal functioning, especially with the onset of cold weather. At this level of power, one can only turn on a few light bulbs and a refrigerator. When trying to use a television, iron, or washing machine, the automation triggers, cutting off the electricity. At the same time, people are advised to save electricity and are offered an unlimited tariff. This means that restrictions should apply to all consumers, including mining,” the activist noted.
It is worth reminding that President Sadyr Japarov expressed his doubts about the unlimited tariff.
Previously, the Ministry of Energy reduced the maximum consumption capacity from 5 kW to 3 kW. The National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan noted that if consumers lack the established capacity, they can switch to the unlimited tariff, which costs 3.81 soms per 1 kWh.
