At the international scientific and practical conference held in Bishkek titled "Ways to Address Priority Tasks for Accelerated Economic Growth of the Kyrgyz Republic," Eldar Alisherov, head of the Eurasian Economic Union sector of the presidential administration, stated that Kyrgyzstan has a huge hydropower potential reaching 140 billion kilowatt-hours.

According to him, the country currently produces only 14-15 billion kilowatt-hours, which opens up opportunities for growth and development in the energy sector.

“The main goal is to develop green energy. We plan to reform the sector to increase generating capacity. This includes both the construction of large hydropower plants and small and medium-sized facilities. We need to effectively manage our energy potential, starting with increasing efficiency and meeting demand and needs,” added Eldar Alisherov.
