New energy-saving regulations introduced in Kyrgyzstan's public sector

In order to enhance energy efficiency and the rational use of electricity, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan is introducing new measures.

According to official data, these measures pertain to the regulation of lighting and the operation of electrical appliances in administrative institutions from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

It is important to note that the specified measures do not affect critically important processes for the functioning of buildings and do not apply to strategic facilities, as well as organizations that operate around the clock and ensure safety, defense, healthcare, and the livelihood of the population.

These measures are expected to achieve significant electricity savings—around 40 million kilowatt-hours per month.

It should be emphasized that in the first nine months of this year, electricity consumption in the country increased by a record 1 billion kilowatt-hours. This is due to both the launch of new industrial enterprises and the growth in the number of social and educational institutions, as well as active housing construction.

At the same time, the current growing season is marked by a decrease in the inflow level in the Naryn River. The volume of water in the Toktogul Reservoir is currently 2 billion cubic meters less than in the same period last year, which requires more active management of water and energy resources.

The Cabinet of Ministers prioritizes the rational use of water resources in the Toktogul Reservoir and the optimization of the load on the energy infrastructure, which is crucial for the stable functioning of the country's energy system.
