In the upcoming early elections for the Jogorku Kenesh, it has been revealed that an average of 5.2 candidates are vying for each deputy seat. This information was announced by Uzarbek Zhilkybaev, a member of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums, on the air of "Birinchi Radio."

Zhilkybaev noted that the total number of citizens expressing a desire to participate in the elections is 589. However, only 467 of them were registered as candidates.

“Of the 122 people who were denied registration, most did so voluntarily, which is their constitutional right. Others did not meet the legal requirements — this applied to those who had lived abroad for a long time, had a criminal record, were on record for connections with organized crime, or worked in religious institutions,” he added.

In addition, Zhilkybaev reported that some candidates have already submitted statements of withdrawal from participation, which will lead to a decrease in the total number of contenders.

“The Central Election Commission is fully prepared for the early elections. We have developed a calendar plan and are proceeding according to it,” he emphasized.

It is important to note that in Kyrgyzstan, the official election campaigning has started, which will last for 20 days — from November 10 to 29. According to the law, this period will end one day before the voting, on the so-called day of silence.
