
The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstan) reported that 589 candidates expressed their desire to participate in the elections for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh. The Deputy Chairperson of the CEC of Kyrgyzstan, Aydana Jupueva, announced this on the air of Birinchi Radio.
She noted that the acceptance of applications from citizens will end on October 30 of this year. From October 31, the verification of documents submitted by candidates and political parties for registration will begin.
Jupueva clarified the main requirements for participation in the elections:
- citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic;
- age of at least 25 years on the day of the elections;
- possession of electoral rights;
- higher professional education;
- knowledge of the state language;
- permanent residence in the country for the last 5 years (with possible interruptions of up to 6 months due to business trips).
Candidates cannot be individuals who:
- have a criminal record (including expunged or canceled);
 - have had a decision made to terminate criminal proceedings on non-rehabilitating grounds (except for certain cases of negligent crimes and reconciliation with the victim);
 - are religious figures within 5 years after suspending their religious activities.
