In connection with the incident, the police of the Turkestan region initiated a criminal case under the article concerning violations of fire safety regulations.
Ruslan Zheldibay, the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan, reported that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims. He also instructed the government and the akim of the region to provide support to those affected and to investigate the circumstances of the tragedy.
The akimat of the Turkestan region clarified that, at Tokayev's instruction, a working group was created under the leadership of the akim of the region. Those affected are being provided with necessary medical and psychological assistance, while the investigative authorities continue to determine the causes of the fire.
