The cause of the crash is believed to be related to an unsuccessful landing attempt on the pier, which resulted in the helicopter's tail detaching. It circled over the water for several minutes before crashing onto an empty private house, leading to a fire. The fire was quickly extinguished.

In this regard, a criminal case has been initiated under the article concerning violations of safety rules in the operation of air transport, which resulted in the deaths of several people. The incident has been classified as a disaster by Rosaviatsiya.
Only plant employees were on board; there were no tourists. Photos of the deceased have been published on the official Telegram channel of the plant.
It is also reported that among the injured was the executive director of KEMZ, who is the son of the owner of the enterprise. He and the pilot are currently receiving treatment at the burn center in Makhachkala.
