During landing, the helicopter skidded and overturned
A rescue helicopter crashed at the foot of Everest while its crew was heading to assist climbers who found themselves in a critical situation, reports the publication "TRT in Russian," citing data from Nepal's civil aviation.
During the landing on the snowy slope, the helicopter began to skid and, as a result, overturned.
The pilot managed to survive and was evacuated. However, the fate of the climbers remains unknown.
In recent days, heavy snowfall has been observed in the Everest area, caused by a cyclone that came from India. Due to adverse weather conditions, all routes to Everest from both the Nepalese and Tibetan sides are temporarily closed to tourists.
