On October 25, around 11:00, a large section of the Ismoil Somoni glacier broke off in the vicinity of the village of Safedobi, located in the Tajikabad district. This information was provided by the Asia-Plus agency, citing data from the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) of Tajikistan.

According to the information, the calved ice mass was about 2 kilometers long, 25 meters high, and up to 200 meters wide, sliding down the gorge. By 14:00, the situation had stabilized, and no threats to the population were recorded.

No casualties or serious damage were reported. However, experts warn of potential risks of flooding and landslides due to prolonged rains and further calving, especially in the vicinity of the village of Gulrez, where this could negatively affect agriculture.

The CES continues to monitor the glacier and analyze potential threats to neighboring settlements.
